I cannot open "protected" Word or Excel files.
Issue
I cannot open "protected" Word or Excel files.
Solution
Removing the password from a document is a simple process, but you have to know the original password.
1.Open the document and enter its password.
2. Go to File > Info > Protect Document > Encrypt with Password.
3. Clear the password in the Password box, and then click OK.
If these files open in a ‘Protected mode’ (default mode for downloaded documents by Microsoft), please ensure that these documents are resaved after ‘enabling editing’.
To make all the Word Documents Unprotected, Navigate to the Options in the Word application and click on Trust Center.
Click on the Trust Center Settings and select Protected View option. Under the Protected View Unselect all the checkboxes.
